Event description
The day will focus on the key principles of designing and teaching a curriculum in geography which is rigorous, fosters the development of young geographers and which can be assessed in a practicable way. The sessions will be immersive and interactive with an emphasis throughout on reflective professional practice.

Objectives - by the end of the day colleagues will:

- Understand the key elements of planning a curriculum in geography which is ambitious, knowledge rich and progressively more challenging in terms of subject outcomes EYFS – Year 6 – ‘intent’.
- Have considered how most effectively to engage and inspire children as young geographers through a pedagogy of enquiry – ‘implementation’.
- Recognise how knowledge and understanding and skills acquisition in geography can be assessed in a manageable way against expected levels of achievement and end points of learning – ‘impact’.
- Having trialled learning enquiries in geography which model and exemplify these key principles.
- Be equipped as subject leaders to improve provision in their schools.
