In this session, Tom Bennett, DfE behaviour advisor and founder of researchED, discusses the habits and strategies of the most successful classroom practitioners. You will hear from Tom in a live session where he will discuss:
· Social norms
· Routines and how to set them
· Building a better classroom culture
· Interpersonal skills and behaviour
· De-escalation techniques
· Setting consequences that are fair and effective
· Building better respiratory and tactile etiquette
· Maintaining classroom norms from a distance
· Managing behaviour when classes are there before you
This is then followed by a 30-minute live Q&A where you can put your problems or queries directly to Tom.
Teaching Assistants will develop their maths subject knowledge in line with whole-school priorities. An outline of the session will be provided when the focus is agreed at Maths Subject Leader meeting.
The network seeks to provide support for School Business Managers to manage their operations/resources efficiently and effectively.
Our aim is to ensure colleagues benefit from industry sector knowledge, updates and ideas to enable them to be compliant and gain the most from available resources.

About the Facilitator
From graduating with a Business Management Degree, Josie Medforth has over 20 years business operation experience, predominantly in the education sector.
She worked for 4 years as a Director of Operations for a successful Trust in Exeter, is currently providing part time interim Chief Operating Officer support for an organisation and enjoys being a Trustee for a Trust in Torbay. These roles have built her experience at an Executive Level.

This twilight session will use the NCETM’s ‘Five Big Ideas to Develop Mastery’ to develop teachers’ understanding of the progression in the bar model from Reception to year 6.
